This is a striker list, not a broad attackers list. The question is narrower and a little harsher: who lived close to goal and still made elite defenders feel half a step late?
Ranking methodology
The ranking rewards finishing, movement, repeatability and the panic created before the pass arrives. The best number nines do not need 80 touches. Sometimes the influence is just two centre-backs staring over their shoulders all night.
Key debate
The Ronaldo-Pele-Muller debate is mostly a taste test. Ronaldo has the pure striker peak, Pele has the broader attacking aura, and Muller owns the old “put it there and I will deal with it” box argument.
